As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, let’s explore six Flipboard Magazines curated by innovative educators. These teachers are not only shaping the minds of their students in the classroom but are also sharing their passion for learning and teaching through Flipboard. Their Magazines cover a wide range of topics — from math and science to geography and educational technology — and offer information and inspiration for students and fellow educators.

Education!

Stewart McKissock, an experienced educator with over 30 years in the field, curates a Magazine that brings together all aspects of education, with a particular focus on digital, leadership, and project-based learning (PBL). His Magazine features articles such as “Teachers Are Absolutely Loving The Student Who Made A Tool That Shows If Your Essay Was Written By AI” and “Place-based Learning vs. Project-based Learning: Two Approaches for Authentic Assessment.”

IB DP Geography

“This Flipboard magazine is curated by International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Geography educators for the benefit of other IB DP Geography teachers and their students,” teacher Richard Allaway writes in a welcome message (using a pinned Note) to the readers of this Magazine. It covers a range of topics such as “The Phones That Detect Earthquakes” and “India Will Overtake China as the World’s Biggest Nation, but is it Ready to be the Next Global Superpower?” Richard also adds his own articles like “How Do You Know What You Don’t Know?” published on his Substack.

Middle School Science

Middle school teacher Todd Hollander curates this Magazine to ignite a love for science and inspire curiosity in young learners. Todd’s magazine offers captivating stories like “How Do We Know How Old Earth Is?” and “Amazing Creature Found 27,000 Feet Under the Sea: Here’s How It Survives,” providing a fascinating look into the world of science for middle school students and science enthusiasts alike.

Math, STEM, and More Math

Curated by passionate educator and technologist Kristen Treglia, this Magazine is dedicated to all things Math and STEM. Kristen’s love for mathematics and future-driven technologies is evident in the 571 stories in the Magazine, which include intriguing articles like “Who Discovered Pi?” and “Genius Teens Discover New Proofs for the Pythagorean Theorem.”

Items For Spanish Class

Carmen Madrid, a high school teacher from Spain’s capital, specializes in preparing students for the DELE – “Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera” or “Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language.” This official accreditation is internationally recognized and measures a person’s Spanish language proficiency. Carmen curates a Flipboard Magazine with “artículos para clases de Español,” where she collects engaging articles to enrich her Spanish language classes and inspire her students.

Flipboard EDU Podcast

Last but not least, we celebrate our regular blog contributor and award-winning digital learning educator William “Coach” Jeffery. He hosts the Flipboard EDU Podcast and this is the companion Magazine. In addition to each episode of the show, there are articles about teaching strategies, edtech, and ways to improve student success. His dedication to digital learning and the Flipboard community is an inspiration to educators around the world.

These six outstanding educators are just a small sample of the many inspiring teachers who are shaping the future of education. Through their Flipboard Magazines, they are engaging their own students and sharing their knowledge and passion with the global educational community. We encourage you to explore these Magazines and discover the wealth of knowledge, inspiration, and innovation they offer.
