People love photos. They help us understand our world and give us insights in ways plain text never could. For years, our Photos of the Week email has been one of our most popular newsletters, reaching 3 million subscribers.

Now we’re excited to bring on a new organization known for its stellar news photography: The Associated Press (AP). Each Friday, AP’s experts will curate a selection of its photo galleries, essays and stories from around the globe for the Photos of the Week newsletter. As a bonus, AP photo editors will also select a gallery from another outlet that caught their eye.

“The Associated Press has a rich history of award-winning photojournalism, including 35 Pulitzer Prizes for photography, and continues to produce outstanding visual journalism from every corner of the world,” said AP Director of Photography J. David Ake. “We look forward to showcasing AP’s powerful imagery in Flipboard’s Photos of the Week newsletter.”

Founded in 1846, AP is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Four billion people see its journalism every day.

If you are a current recipient of our Photo Desk newsletter you will automatically  receive Photos of the Week each Friday. You can sign up or check your email newsletter subscriptions in your profile settings (you need a web browser to do this at Flipboard.com). Subscribe and get ready to explore the planet every Friday with unforgettable images.
