If you put in the effort of curating a magazine with an awesome title and cover image, there are a few easy things you can do on Flipboard to build an audience and a community.

• Ask a question or prompt your readers with Compose. Dialogue makes the difference between community and a static feed. Answer comments quickly and engage with your readers. On the Web, you can also log in and use Flipboard.com to continue conversations.

• Create a weekly or monthly call for submissions and flip your favorites into a magazine. Come up with a great hashtag or recurring copy to put on your favorite social network or blog.

• Tag people or publications on social media when you feature their articles in your Flipboard Magazines and then link to the magazine; it could help to grow your following on Flipboard and off, and get the attention of someone you admire.

• When you reach out to someone for the first time with any platform, it’s a good idea to be genuine, spellcheck, mention their article title and link to your magazine. Don’t be spammy!

• You could even broaden your social media efforts to let your followers know that you’ve added content to your magazine.

Again, be careful not to spam anyone with multiple messages too quickly. A shout-out is nice to receive but too many becomes unmanageable and bothersome.
