Palo Alto, CA – Friday, October 23, 2026 – Today, Flipboard, once named iPad app of the year, brings its iconic magazine-style news app to the iPhone Duo. The new iPhone Duo is a perfect fit for Flipboard’s touch interface and 3D page flip, designs that redefined content interactions with the ability to simply flip through news and information. And for this release, Flipboard has created new full screen formats that showcase stories, photos and videos in gorgeous layouts adapted for the iPhone Duo’s fluid transitions between modes and dual-pane experience.

“Flipboard has always been about making the experience of discovering great content as compelling as the content itself,” said Mike McCue, CEO of Flipboard. “We pioneered a new way to engage with your favorite content on the iPad, and iPhone Duo gives us an exciting new canvas to bring the magic of Flipboard to life on a new generation of devices.”

In today’s AI world, Flipboard fills a growing need for trusted content and lean-back enjoyment. Powered by thousands of sources handpicked by its editorial team, Flipboard covers individual interests while also ensuring big events and news are covered every day. Millions of people use Flipboard to follow topics they care about and they flip through billions of stories every year. The iPhone Duo experience elevates these diverse stories and videos with dynamic full-bleed visuals, bold headlines and clear source attribution so readers know what they are seeing and where it’s coming from.

With iPhone Duo closed, Flipboard delivers the familiar iPhone experience designed for single-handed use. It delivers a compact magazine experience for flipping through stories. There’s a customizable top carousel for favorite topics or sources, and an expanded Explore view that makes it easy to browse and personalize content you follow. And, as you flip through pages of stories, tap to read any article, share it with friends or use the “+” to save content into your own Flipboard Magazines.

Open iPhone Duo to full screen and Flipboard’s magic comes to life with the fluid transitions, split screen designs and adaptive layouts. Using Apple’s Continuous Flow feature, Flipboard seamlessly switches between modes with intelligent resizing while keeping the reader on the same story or video. The gorgeous dual-pane layouts transform stories into a visual experience that feels fresh and fast. As people turn pages, content fills the frame with layouts that bring the tactile joy of discovery that made Flipboard a recognized leader of information design on the original iPad.

And, reminiscent of the original Ken Burns covers on Flipboard, there’s also a new “slideshow mode” that slowly pans across images and headlines from the user’s For You feed. Slideshow mode is triggered when the iPhone Duo is in Tent pose, but also can be manually selected using the three-dot menu in the header. Anyone who misses the headline screen savers on Mac desktops will love this.
