Wednesday, July 25, 2025–Palo Alto, CA–Custom feeds built on Surf and published to Bluesky can now be found in the popular Bluesky Directory. Custom feeds transform how people use social media, allowing them to go beyond a single home timeline and have multiple feeds dedicated to their personal interests and communities. Today, Surf, a browser for the open social web built by the team at Flipboard, is one of the easiest ways to create custom feeds and Bluesky Directory, a directory of tools, feeds and applications built for Bluesky, is the best way to discover custom feeds.
There are thousands of custom feeds built on the Surf beta. In keeping with the ethos of the social web, Surf is working towards ‘decentralizing’ by making its feeds accessible to anyone, on or off the platform. As a first step, Surf enabled a ‘publish to Bluesky’ feature and there are already hundreds of Surf feeds available to Bluesky users. By being part of the Bluesky Directory, these feeds can be easily discovered by and engaged with by non-Surf users.

Surf custom feeds are created by combining social profiles, hashtags, Starter Packs, and more into a single feed. People who create feeds can also add filters that, for example, keep the feed on topic, prioritize original posts and block bad actors. By tailoring the feed to only show content that they or a group would value, the custom feed becomes very focused and a quick way to join interesting conversations happening across social media.
