We’ve made a podcast! It’s a show about the art and science of selection, called “The Art of Curation,” and we’re thrilled to bring it to you.

If you think about it, curation is everywhere. There’s curation that’s “obvious” — like what happens in a museum, on DJ decks, on Flipboard, and in “your favorite newsletter. And then there are modes of curation that are less overt but every bit as meaningful. Take, for example, a dinner party: curating the guest list, the menu, the music and the decor could be the difference between a mediocre evening and a stellar one.

Since curation is the key to making or breaking experiences, we wanted to better understand how curators across different disciplines do their jobs. In each episode of the podcast, we interview tastemakers and thought leaders in art, music, science, tech, fashion and more about how they got started curating, how they curate for impact, how they organize their ideas and find inspiration, and how the act of intentionally choosing has made their careers and lives more interesting and successful.

Our first episode features Jennifer Frazier, a senior scientist and curator at the Exploratorium, a hands-on science museum in San Francisco. Jen shared what it’s like to curate life sciences, how to reach seemingly out-of-reach audiences, and what it’s like to curate with your community instead of just for them. Her love of science is infectious; it’ll make you want to go out and explore the natural world for yourself.

Each episode ends with a “speed round,” where the guest curates their favorite books, podcasts, movies, games, shows, etc. live on the spot. We then place those items into one handy Storyboard on our new Art of Curation Flipboard profile so you can find everything related to each episode in one place. As the host of the show, I’ve already learned about so many cool things from our guests; I can’t wait for you to discover them, too.

A new episode will drop every Tuesday, so please rate the show highly if you like it and subscribe on Flipboard or wherever you listen to your podcasts. “The Art of Curation” is also distributed through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcast, and Amazon Podcasts.

We hope you enjoy this conversation series as much as we’ve enjoyed making it for you!
