Sending a big welcome to the following new members of the Flipboard Creator Collective, who have unlocked exclusive tools, opportunities and community access. If you’re interested in applying to be a creator on Flipboard, keep reading! All the details are after this list of people you should know:
Lavender and Macarons: Ukrainian-born Iryna started her site in 2014 with the goal of sharing parenting tips with other moms. Since then, as she witnessed people she loved struggle with medical issues, she pivoted to focus on healthy eating for all kinds of diets, plant-based to omnivore. In addition, you’ll find traditional Ukrainian and Eastern European recipes like vegan borscht, Polish pickle soup, and vinegret salad.
Miles With McConkey: Meet Scott and Julie McConkey. After nearly 30 years of working in the corporate world, they decided to go into semi-retirement and travel while still in their fit 40s and 50s. “Unlike others, we will not be getting an RV,” they state. Instead, it’s cars and planes to U.S. national parks, Disney destinations, and as many states as possible. Just recently, the McConkeys curated a “last frontier” collection about their adventures in Alaska.
Savoring the Good: This is a recipe blog about “slowing down and savoring the good that’s on your plate, in your glass, and in the experience you are having.” A classically trained chef, novice beekeeper and 15-year blogger, Sarah Mock prides herself on helping the home cook prepare dishes with restaurant-quality results.
Stories by Soumya: This curator is a self-described history nerd, culture enthusiast, and BBC-published author on heritage sites. Previously a consultant for multinational corporations in South Asia and the Middle East, Soumya found her passion for ancient civilizations and historial travel at UNC, where she studied cultural marketing strategy. “I have zero interest in adventure tourism or Disneyland,” she writes, “but ask me how the Ancient Floating Gardens of Xochimilco still produce food after 800 years.”
The Second Button: If you’re into men’s style, Daniel Hakimi is a must-follow on Flipboard. He doesn’t just love the ’fits; he loves the conversation and community around them. (He’s also a contributor to Flipboard’s Style Exchange Group Magazine.) Daniel’s personal blog is called The Second Button, a play on a Seinfeld quote that mocked the “no man’s land” placement of a shirt’s second button. “Does ‘the second button’ really make or break the shirt? I don’t think so. But I’m loving the conversation,” he says.
